Content and Use Violations: You agree NOT to copy, reproduce, distribute, broadcast, sell, or commercially exploit any Content without authorization; modify or create derivative works; impersonate any person; use the Services for illegal purposes; or falsely imply association with us.
Technical Violations: You agree NOT to engage in unauthorized scraping or harvesting; interfere with or disrupt the Services; probe or test system vulnerabilities; bypass security features; reverse engineer any software; upload malware; or place unreasonable load on our infrastructure.
Communication Violations: You agree NOT to send spam, engage in harassment or threatening behavior, or submit fraudulent reports or communications.
Violation of these Terms may result in immediate suspension or termination of your access without notice.
All content on the Services ā including text, graphics, logos, audio recordings, podcast episodes, maps, and data ā is owned by or licensed to Firewatch Productions LLC and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and view the Content for personal, non-commercial use; listen to and download podcast episodes through authorized platforms; share links to publicly available pages; and quote or reference Content for non-commercial educational or journalistic purposes with attribution.
This license does NOT allow you to reproduce, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Content; train AI models on the Content; create derivative works; or remove proprietary notices.
"History of the Marine Corps," "Bloodline," "Firewatch Productions," and associated logos are trademarks of Firewatch Productions LLC and may not be used without prior written consent.
You may submit content through newsletter forms, error reports, Scribe questions and feedback, email, and other features. By submitting, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, store, use internally to improve the Services, and share with service providers ā but not to sell to third parties, use in advertising without consent, train external AI models, or identify you publicly without consent.
This license terminates when you exercise deletion rights, when we delete per our retention schedule, or when submissions are anonymized. You represent that your submissions do not violate third-party rights and are accurate to the best of your knowledge.
The Bloodline interactive map is an evolving historical visualization tool covering 250 years of Marine Corps history. The map, data, and features may change without notice. Some historical details may be incomplete or based on conflicting sources. Historical data is curated by Firewatch Productions LLC from publicly available materials.
Bloodline Scribe is an AI-powered assistant using retrieval-augmented generation (RAG). Important: AI responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or fabricated. Scribe responses are not reviewed by a human historian. Scribe is not a substitute for professional advice. Submitted questions may be reviewed for quality assurance and improvement.
Portions of the Services, including Bloodline and Scribe, are provided as beta versions "as is" and "as available" and may contain bugs, errors, or incomplete functionality. Your use of beta Services is at your own risk.
We may review, investigate, and act on your reports at our discretion. We are not obligated to respond to every report. We appreciate user reports as a key way to improve historical accuracy.
The Services are an independent educational and historical project. They are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the United States Marine Corps or the Department of Defense. References to military units, battles, and figures are for educational purposes only.
Nothing in the Services constitutes legal, medical, financial, veterans benefits, or career advice. Consult qualified professionals for such matters.
Your use of the Services is governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes what information we collect, cookies and tracking, your rights under GDPR and CCPA/CPRA, and our data retention and security practices.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Firewatch Productions LLC disclaims all warranties including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We make no representations regarding the accuracy or completeness of historical content or AI-generated responses. No oral or written information from us shall create a warranty.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Firewatch Productions LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages; loss of profits or data; damages from reliance on AI-generated responses; unauthorized access to your data; or third-party conduct.
Cap on Liability: Our aggregate liability for all claims is limited to the greater of (i) the amount you paid us in the preceding 12 months, or (ii) $100.00 USD. Because the Services are provided free of charge, this cap will typically be $100.00.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Firewatch Productions LLC and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from: your use of the Services; your violation of these Terms; your violation of applicable law; your negligence or willful misconduct; your violation of third-party rights; or your submission of false or fraudulent information.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to conflict of law principles. The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
Before filing any formal claim, contact us at contact@historyofthemarinecorps.com to attempt informal resolution. If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be brought in the state or federal courts located in Hartford County, Connecticut.
Class Action Waiver: Any dispute resolution will be conducted only on an individual basis, not in a class or representative action.
Time Limit: Any claim must be filed within one (1) year of the cause of action arising, where permitted by law.
You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at our sole discretion for violation of these Terms, harmful conduct, suspected fraud, extended inactivity, or discontinuation of the Services. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect.
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will post the updated Terms, update the Last Updated date, and for material changes, provide notice through the Services or by email to newsletter subscribers. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
These Terms and our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement between you and Firewatch Productions LLC. If any provision is found invalid, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. Nothing in these Terms creates any agency, employment, or partnership relationship.
